One of our final year IBBA students, Scarlett Niu, joined the Commonwealth Bank of Australia as an Asia Regional HR Intern for 1 year. Scarlett concluded her 1-year internship as a very rewarding experience, “For me, the best part is that I worked directly under Vanessa, Head of Asia HR. To me, Vanessa is like a mentor rather than a manager, she likes to teach me more and give me more tasks to practice.”, she mentioned.

Scarlett was assigned several tasks during her internship, including but not limited to, running HR data analytics, planning and organizing Diversity & Inclusion and Mental wellbeing activities, conducting monthly orientation webinars, drafting employment contracts and letters. She enjoyed working in the vibrant and friendly atmosphere in the CBA’s office, “CBA has a very internationalized environment, I work with colleagues from Australia and other Asia countries every day. My English communication skill improved a lot throughout the year. The office environment was also very nice — senior level managers chat with you like they are your friends and there are regular events such as the Christmas party.”, she added.
